woooah were halfway there!

Woooahh, livin' on a prayer. Sorry I had to finish that...
Yes, today's the halfway mark. I'm now 20 weeks! I can hardly believe it either. It was the first time at my doctors appointment when she actually measured my belly. The baby's heart beat was pumping away and it brought a huge smile to my face knowing that in just 4 months, I'll hold my baby boy in my arms. Today I signed Nathan and I up for "Preparing for Childbirth" classes starting in April. Woot, woot!

I've gained about 7 pounds so far (not bad ey?). It's the first time in my life where I don't feel bad about weight gain. Hey, pregnancy's pretty cool like that. You feel a little more liberated to "strut your stuff" and rub that belly. God, I never thought I'd utter those words! I feel sacred, I feel sexy, I feel needed and overjoyed.

So remember when I told you all how I've been craving gummy/chewy anything???

Yea, I wasn't joking either, Lord have mercy! God help my unborn child and the sugar rushes he gets when I get those cravings too. It's really the only craving I have. Pickles now and then but gummy candy rocks the cashbah!

Nathan and I...actually, let me rephrase that, I have been really worried about the space or lack there of, in our condo. It's a little over 600 square feet with one bedroom. I can only imagine how much the lack of room will magnify when the baby and all the "stuff" takes up every inch of our home. Soooo, I've convinced Nathan that we need to move to something a bit bigger. I'm not talking about a 3 bedroom apartment with double car garage. I just need an extra bedroom and some sorage space, that's all right? Well I wish it was that easy.
We need to get our condo on the market right now, and think about what we'll do. Will we buy another place a lot farther away from where we work, or will we rent for a couple of years till Nathan graduates? I know, it's a lot to think about and do before the baby comes. I think Nathan and I are on the same page now. Nathan's issue was distance if we moved farther West.

Especially since he's in the lab. He couldn't just come home for dinner then come back to school. He'd have to stay there and then get home late into the night. He feels like he'd miss out on watching his newborn son grow. For me, my issue was space. I didn't care about the distance as long as we had room to breathe. We don't want to neglect each other's main issue with moving, so we've come to a middle ground that I think will work.

Stats:
Age of fetus: 20 weeks
What's going on this week: A greasy white substance called vernix caseosa coats his entire body to protect his skin during its long submersion in amniotic fluid. (This slick coating also eases the journey down the birth canal.)Your baby is swallowing more, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky substance that's the result of cell loss, digestive secretion, and swallowed amniotic fluid. This meconium will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first messy diaper (although a few babies pass it in utero or during delivery).
Baby's Size: Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom, and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (For the first 20 weeks, we use measurements taken from the top of the baby's head to her bottom — known as the "crown to rump" measurement. After that, we use measurements from head to toe. This is because a baby's legs are curled up against his torso during the first half of pregnancy and are very hard to measure.)
Mood: Happy
Cravings: See first image above
Energy: Feeling better now that my sinus infection's gone.

Woohoo for halfway there! You guys are so sweet and I'm sure you'll find a place that is right for both of you (all three of you!). :)
