Baby M says "hi!"

This morning I had another appointment. This time it was to go over our family history of health and discuss the questionnaire I had to fill out. The nurse practitioner gave me a pelvic exam
(not fun) and then she brought in her baby heart monitor (fun)! Nathan, being the proud daddy he is, took out the camera and video recorded the sound of our baby's heartbeat. It was so surreal, and it sounded like a washer machine on gentle cycle. All was normal there and the heart rate was now up to 150 BPM. Every now and then you'd hear a thud and that was Baby M's martial arts skills in progress. I'm still to early to feel any movement, but soon enough I'll be kept up in the middle of the night.

I wasn't suppose to have another ultra-sound since I had jut had one last Friday, but I was still concerned about the brown spotting I kept on having. So the nurse practitioner said that I just earned a free ultrasound
(scoooore). This time we were looking to see where the position of the placenta was and make sure that there was no bleeding. Everything looked great, and the placenta is in a good position. We got a few waves from Baby M and Nathan again, zipped out our camera to capture these images.

Here's a video of when Nathan and I got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time. You'll hear some "burping" sounds, but it's just the baby moving around and practicing its martial art skills. Hayyyyyya! It won't be so funny when Baby M starts kicking the life out of my rib cage. ;-)

This is the video I've been trying to upload FOREVER! Here's the actual ultrasound of the baby:

This next video is when the nurse goes from top to bottom. You see the head, chest, and feet. Then it goes back to the side view. She took lots of measurements.

This is the last video, I promise. At least till February when we find out the sex of our baby. Notice how Nathan butters up the nurse to buy more ultrasound time. He's so sneaky, but so good!

Stats:

Age of fetus: 14 weeks, 2 days
What's going on this month:
Your baby can now squint, frown, grimace, pee, and possibly suck his thumb! Thanks to brain impulses, his facial muscles are getting a workout as his tiny features form one expression after another. His kidneys are producing urine, which he releases into the amniotic fluid around him — a process he'll keep up until birth. He can grasp, too, and if you're having an ultrasound now, you may even catch him sucking his thumb.
Baby's Size:
about the size of a lemon (3.5 inches) — and weighs 1 1/2 ounces
Mood: Happy
Cravings: None
Energy: Average
Morning Sickness: NONE!!!
